Overview:

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 is the most significant audit and corporate governance reform in recent history. It has been described as the "most broad-sweeping legislation" since the Securities Act of the 1930's, and is alluded to as "Y2K without an end” or "Y2K on steroids".

Enacted by President Bush in 2002 in response to the corporate accounting scandals, such as Enron and WorldCom, the SOX Compliance Act is transforming how business is done in corporate America and around the world.

With the Act's requirements of compliance certification, as well as auditing and disclosure, each corporate entity’s Internal Audit department is squarely in the hot seat to attest to the existence of appropriate controls.

Course Objectives:

  • Drill down to the essential requirements of the Act. 
  •  Learn the controls that must be in place to assure compliance.
  • Learn practical methodologies for ensuring that your organization is meeting
    the requirements of Section 302 and 404.
  • Gain a practical framework for ensuring that your organization is in compliance with the components of Sarbanes-Oxley.

Prerequisites:

A background in finance, accounting, IT, legal or audit is recommended but not required.

·        SOX compliance planning and implementation methodology

·        Comprehend critical sections and key components of SOX including 302, 404 and 906

·        Understand the role of the SEC, PCAOB and other governing bodies and organizations within he SOX framework

·        Be able to implement COSO, COBIT and other frameworks

·        Have a comprehensive understanding of SOX documentation and disclosure procedures

·        Demonstrate broad knowledge of internal controls, financial assertions, and risk management

·        Gain practical SOX skills you can use on the job
